Susan Burton, graziosa e ricchissima ereditiera americana è a Roma e alcuni giovani aristocratici della capitale sperano di sposarla. La ricca straniera diventa quindi l'oggetto delle loro non disinteressate premure ma Susan allontana, ad uno ad uno, tutti i pretendenti. Per vendicarsi dello scacco subito Bubi e Raimondo, preparano ai suoi danni un'atroce beffa. Fanno amicizia con Ettore, un bullo di Trastevere, e dietro compenso di duecentomila lire, lo inducono a tentare la conquista dell'americana. Presentato a Susan sotto un falso noea principesco, Ettore diventa un assiduo corteggiatore della ragazza, che lo trova simpatico e mostra di gradire la sua compagnia. A questo punto i due aristocratici rivelano la vera identità del fusto trasteverino, il quale, stanco del gioco, fa un'aperta confessione. Dopodiché Ettore ritorna in mezzo alla sua gente, e alla sua fidanzata che era stata in pena per lui.
