Un giornalista indaga su di un incidente che ha visto coinvolta una giovane coppia. Lei è ferita e sotto shock; lui, illeso, è scappato dopo averla fatta soccorrere. Nel corso delle indagini il giornalista trova appoggio e collaborazione in Giovanna, amica e collega presso una casa discografica della giovane donna ferita, la quale lo indirizza presso un ricco conte con la passione per il canto. Seguendo un'altra pista i due rintracciano il disco di una canzone interpretata proprio dal conte, la cui storia si intreccia con quella della giovane donna ferita, Maria, e del fratello del conte, Stefano. Quest'ultimo si scopre essere infatti il ragazzo di lei fuggito in seguito all'incidente avvenuto proprio a causa di un litigio fra i due per la gelosia che Stefano nutriva nei confronti del fratello. I due "detective" rintracciano Filippo, riescono a farlo chiarire con Maria, nel frattempo guarita, e fanno trionfare l'amore.
